Running an environmentally friendly nursery helps us reduce our impact on the environment and preserve natural resources.

Where possible, we only use sustainable materials throughout the nursery: from the nursery fit-out to the toys the children play with. For example, as part of our nursery fit-out we will install slow flow water taps, use energy-saving light bulbs, non-toxic wall paint, keep to natural flooring and use natural materials for the playground equipment.

In our day-to-day running of the nursery, we will use reusable nappies for children under two years and biodegradable nappies for over twos. Baby wipes will be naturally made of kitchen towel. We will use bamboo crockery, provide wooden toys for the children to play with and use recycled or sustainable materials for arts and crafts.

Children’s health and well-being is paramount to us so we use organic and sustainably sourced food wherever possible and Hackney Council will collect our food waste for composting.

We encourage parents to cycle or walk to nursery and therefore provide a large storage area for buggies.
