At East Wick Kids we use the Montessori method of teaching. Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. In Montessori classrooms children make creative choices in their learning, while being offered age-appropriate activities to guide the process. Children work in groups and individually to discover and explore knowledge of the world and to develop their maximum potential.

Every material in a Montessori classroom supports an aspect of child development, creating a match between the child’s natural interests and the available activities. Children can learn through their own experience and at their own pace. They can respond at any moment to the natural curiosities that exist in all humans and build a solid foundation for life-long learning.

At East Wick Kids we use the Forest School  approach to outdoor learning.  Forest school is  a specialised approach to outdoor learning that aims to develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning in woodland environments. It aims to promote the holistic development of all those involved, fostering resilient, confident, independent and creative learners. It offers learners the opportunity to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and to themselves.

B – BE BRAVE – Children will develop confidence and independence by exploring the world around them.  We will run weekly Forest School sessions using real tools and resources to develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning.

S – SUSTAINABLE – In all areas we strive to consider sustainable alternatives and incorporate these into our daily running of the nursery and activities.  We aim to inspire, set an example and teach our children to follow eco-friendly ways of doing things, which can help reduce our environmental impact.
